What is Botox?

Updated: Jun 22, 2022

Botox injections use a toxin called onobotulinumtoxinA to temporarily prevent a muscle from moving.
In aesthetics, it prevents dynamic wrinkles. Unfortunately, static wrinkles can not be fixed with botox. Fillers or PRP, mesotherapy will help with static wrinkles.

The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes.
Botox injections are also used to treat other conditions such as neck spasms (cervical dystonia), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), migraines, an overactive bladder, gastroparesis and lazy eye.

Effects of Botox typically last for 3 to 6 months, while results vary from person to person.
